This is the Fuente de Cibeles, a sister sculpture of the original in Madrid. This second painting is a reaction to my first that I decided was too loose. I tightened up both the drawing and the color washes, and I feel it is more successful. So the lesson was that, for me, at least, some subjects have a limit of "looseness" beyond which it's too hard to discern the subject, and that detracts from the image.
